The kickstarter launched this week! And woah...
I won't lie - a part of me had hoped that it would launch, and people would be so stoked that they would donate their life savings to the cause then give up their jobs for the month so they could evangelize 'Forgive Me My Henchmen' full time. Unfortunately for me, that hasn't happened yet because people have common sense...this kickstarter will be harder than I thought.
Even though its been wonderful to get some backers, this kickstarter is off to a slow start. It seems those who see it and hear about it, like it. The challenge, however, is awareness - not nearly enough people are getting to see it and hear about it.
This is a wake up call that the PR strategies I am trying are simply not working...it is time to try something new. I don't know what that is yet, but I will have to spend more time thinking about it. There is still time to turn this kickstarter around.
On that note, this week I will be writing to different journalists / sites seeing if this game is something they'd like to cover. That, I think, is a good place to start.
Also, still on that note, if you have been following this blog and like the idea behind 'Forgive Me My Henchmen' then YOU - the reader - can help too.
Have you backed this project? Do you have friends/family who might be excited about a game like this coming to light? If so, mention it to them :) Alternatively, you can share the link to the trailer/game/kickstarter page on your facebook/twitter/instagram page. You don't have to worry about convincing people of anything - everybody's different, and can make their own choice about whether this is something they'd like to back or not - but if you could help spread awareness, that would be great.
